Were You Aware of
Tropical honeys

Tropical Honeys

Tropical honeys and African honeys particularly types of honey from Tanzania are not the types of honey that firstly spring to mind.

So it was with great delight that I met the charming Jiten Chandarana Managing Director of Honey Care Africa at the UK National Honey Show in October 2009.

He offered me a taste of African honey from Tanzania for the very first time.

This tropical honey was so deliciously sweet I quickly delved into my purse and managed to scrape together enough cash to buy myself two jars.

These I will enjoy whilst continuing on my journey of the amazing health benefits of honey I have been on for several years.

My purse and my bank balance had by this time taken a severe battering because of my bulging shopping bag which had been filled by my visit with all types of honey and other wonderful bee products which were for sale.

Tropical African honeys from Tanzania and all the other wonderful bee products they sell include Pure, Forest and Highland blends. You can see some of their products in the photograph below......brilliant labels.

Their Tropical Types of honey are 100% naturally pure and free from any type of chemical contamination, this is wonderful and the best type of raw honey you can find.

Honey Care Africa also produces their own Beekeepers Delight type of honey which they blend with cinnamon, ginger and quite soon cloves.

Wow I bet the clove honey will be a very tasty new experience for us! Jitens brother wrote to me recently, he is the project manager for Honey Care Africa. You can read what we spoke about at the end of my kinds of honey page about his experiments with cloves and honey.

The health benefits of ginger with honey and of course honey and cinnamon will I’m sure be hugely popular in their blend of Beekeepers Delight type of honey.

Pure Tanzanian honey of the Highland type was what found itself quickly added to my bag but only one and a half jars made it to my kitchen cupboard!

The reason for this was of course my passion for the benefits of eating honey and I think it highly unlikely that the remainder will be there before the weekend is over.

What is Honey Care Africa?

I had a fascinating conversation with Jiten; he kindly agreed to have his photograph taken with me as you can see above at the top of this page.

Jiten told me about Honey Care Africa (Direct Link to Honey Care Africa at the bottom of this page) and his vision to enhance the livelihood of beekeepers in Tanzania and to globalise their types of honey from Tanzania.

Their plan is to globalise and become the most vibrant export company of Apiculture Products in East Africa.

They work with organized local bee-keeping groups right across Tanzania which until recently has been male dominated.

This will change as they have a training program to train women using modern beekeeping methods using the Langstroth design of bee hives.

At present only 10% are women but this will change and ladies please don't be afraid of becoming a beekeeper yourselves, beekeeping is very rewarding.

You will help considerably with our disappearing bees problems and help to keep this beautiful earth of ours stable more than you probably realise.

What else does Honey Care Africa Sell?

Honey Care Africa also produces and exports to places such as the USA, Germany, Italy, Spain, Turkey (and hopefully before too long to the UK) the following:

  • Beeswax
  • Bee Honeycomb
  • Bee candy

So far in 2009 they have
exported 140 tons of types of honey
and 60 tons of beeswax.

Part of Honey Care Africa vision is to add products such as candles and cosmetics to expand beyond just types of honey.

I sincerely hope they include their Propolis....What is Propolis?.... into their amazing products which are used widely in the cosmetic industry and even toothpaste for good oral hygiene.

I am in need, after writing this page, of a Honey Boost and no prizes for guessing which honey I shall choose from my vast array of kinds of honey in my kitchen? Yes that's right, my new tropical honey!

Please click on the Honey Care Africa link below to learn more about their wonderful work which includes their production of Tropical honeys.

And please let me know if you have tried any Tropical Honeys or African honeys from Tanzania.
