Me Relaxing.........What a Luxury!

Hi and thank you so much for popping by to meet me. My name is Jan and I'm the mother of five daughters, they're all grown up now! Hayley the last of the five is off to University this coming September and I am feeling more than a little redundant!

Throughout those many years of bringing them up my time just appeared to revolve around them which of course I revelled in. To a certain extent they will always need me as much as I need them. They are also a very healthy bunch which is truly a blessing.

But and this is a big BUT, isn't it about time I did something just for ME! There is nothing selfish in what I say and I know there are zillions of you out there who know just where I'm coming from.

Whilst they were growing up I felt uneasy about leaving them with a nanny whilst I worked so I became a self-employed caterer. I rented a few coffee shops and could always take them with me when they were on school holidays. They had a great time and learned a few skills along the way.

Two of them were still quite young when I had a franchise at a private airport. I had many "stars" pop in for a coffee or a meal the only difference was that instead of hopping out of a car they hopped out of a plane! It was great fun.

Once they had grown up enough I decided to change my career, I had worked almost 7 days a week for near on 20 years and I wanted a change. I was offered a job as an instructor of Business Studies at the school one of my daughters attended by the then Principal Mr Wetherall. Along with that I would help out as a support worker working with children who had Special Educational Needs.

Now I cover lessons when ever a teacher is away. Its a great job, very rewarding and I know how lucky I am to have one. However, it won't last forever, nothing ever does and as my retirement years approach me like a race horse in full gallop I feel myself panicking a little because I can look back so far! However, even though I may be getting on a bit (said with tongue in cheek) the health benefits of honey has kept me fit and healthy.

I want to be able to enjoy my life for a lot more years yet and have no wish to go out to work till the day I drop so I put my thinking cap on and thought what can I do, just for me, as this is now ME time and maybe earn an income from home! I believe strongly in Life Long Learning and at my age I have learned a LOT! I've always wanted to have my own website so I thought why not have a go!

I surfed around the net for a bit looking for ideas and found all those old cobbler stories about making £1000 a day and thought No Way.......if it was that easy then we would all be doing it wouldn't we?

Oh Yes, the internet is full of Get Rich Quick schemes and I'm sure there are a few, just a few who have actually done just that by hard selling their "pretend product". And lets face it they are the ones who started the old cobbler stories in the first place and people were conned enough to part with their money, they can be pretty convincing! I was not going to get caught up in that trap!

I literally stumbled upon Site Build It by accident, just by surfing the net. Still cautious, I took my time and watched the excellent videos, read the reviews and the stories of successes and thought to myself, you know what, I can do that. They call it an MBA in a box...WOW, me with an MBA! Not a real one but far better.

You simply have to choose a subject you are knowledgeable about or passionate about or even something you want to know more about. Maybe you already have a business you wish to further promote or even an under performing website! You may even like me, think to yourself "but I'm not good at anything in particular" but you ARE.........everyone knows something about something.

I was a little stuck on what my "niche" might be for a time because although my life has so far been interesting and varied I did feel the only real thing I was good at was bringing up a family and I did say I wanted to do something for ME, something totally different.

So on went the thinking cap again and Hey Presto I realised I had for years had a passion for honey and honey bees and all the benefits of honey. Particularly the health benefits of honey, I have very good reasons for this. My youngest daughter was very ill when she was small, however, honey cured her and I will always be a honey fan.

Those little creatures are responsible for our very existence, so that was it, I decided I would get myself an MBA in honey, honey bees and all their wonderful products.

There are of course many ways to make money, my number three daughter has made a mint with her husband but it has taken a long time to build up and maintain their business. They worked long into the early hours of the morning making sure their orders were on time, even crashing asleep on the warehouse floor at 3am and getting up again at 6am to carry on.

People call her lucky because she and her husband have a beautiful house and all the trappings that money can buy. Even I thought to myself they are lucky people. Actually luck didn't even come in to it, they worked their butts off to make their business a success, it was sheer hard work, not luck! They had the BAM....Brain and Motivation, which is all you will need to succeed in an on-line business.
