My Homemade Beauty Product Favourites

by Sheridan Loyer
(Nice)

Hello Jan

I just love your website and read it often as there is so much information.

I thought I would send in a few of my own tips of homemade beauty products to share with you and your readers.

I love to make my own lip balm as living in the South of France my lips can become quite dry in the summer when it’s so hot.

I get a glass bowl and stand it in a large pan of hot water on top of the stove over a low heat. In this I put a tablespoon of beeswax, 4 drops of essential oils; I like peppermint, a vitamin E capsule (emptied) and 2 tablespoons of coconut oil.

I melt these slowly altogether mixing all the time and then pour it into some little containers. Sometimes I add the ends of a well used lipstick also and this gives the lip balm a nice tint of color. It lasts for ages!

Another thing I like to make is my own facial scrubs; I have experimented with many ingredients but like this one best of all as it really makes my skin glow after.

I mix coffee grains, mashed banana and a drop of honey all together in a bowl and rub it gently all over my face (it’s great for hands too). I usually lie down for a while depending on my beautiful baby taking a nap and then rinse off with warm water.

To give my hair a real shine I make up my own hair condition rinse and pour it over my hair as the final rinse.

Just mix together about 1 pint of warm water and add a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. I swear this keeps my hair healthy and shiny.

I am a little wary of making my own soaps from scratch as all the recipes I have found want you to use Lye which apparently can be quite dangerous. But I have melted ends of soap with extra beeswax and a little honey together and this with a drop of lavender oil has been successful and I love the smell.

I live in Nice with my French husband and our little baby boy and our shops are packed with honey so much so it really is difficult at times to know which one to buy but your information has helped me enormously and I look forward to reading new pages.

Bye for now
Sheridan

Thank you very much for sending this in Sheridan. It's so nice to "meet" my lovely readers who use honey and natural ingredients for their beauty needs. Honey for skin is so good isn't it!

I will be sure to try these out myself.

Warmest Regards
Jan
