Easy Lip Balm Recipe
Looking for a lip balm recipe? Want to know how to make lip balm?Honey lip balm is your best choice and as I discovered is incredibly easy to make. It's fun and will keep your lips smooth and kissable. Our lips are prone to cold sores and skin infections which makes it very important to keep them healthy too.
I have been experimenting in my own kitchen with the minute amounts of honey that are left in the numerous jars I have in my cupboards.Even though I scrape every last drop from each jar there always seems to be a coating left in the jar that my knife or spoon just cannot reach! Easily solved, I stand the jar in a pan of hot water which melts it leaving me with at least a spoonful in the bottom of the jar, perfect for adding to my ingredients for making my own organic lip balm. Lip Balm Recipe ~ Honey Lip BalmYou will need a heat proof bowl immersed in a saucepan of very hot and simmering water or a microwavable jug which is sometimes easier as it has the perfect lip for pouring. And some kind of pot, container or jar to store your lip balm. 4oz of beeswax, try to use natural bees wax if you can. 8 fluid oz of a sweet oil, almond oil is lovely, lavender oil contains extra healing or you could just use a really good extra virgin olive oil. 2 tablespoons of honey of your choice, I try to use Manuka honey as it is such a wonderful healer. How to Make Lip BalmNow you have your ingredients together you just need to melt the beeswax and oils together, once these are melted fully, they will take very little time in a microwave, a few seconds at a time you can then whisk your honey into these ingredients and pour straight into your containers. How to Use and Enhance your Lip Balm RecipeAs your honey lip balm cools it will eventually set ready to use whenever you wish to use it. If you have any lipsticks almost used, scrape them out and add to your ingredients whilst still hot. This will give your lip balm a hint of color which is great for using either on its own as a fantastic lip gloss or spread over your lipstick for extra shine. Those ends of lipsticks needn’t be thrown away any more than those honey jar scrapings which is great news for us girls. If you would like your lip balms to smell nice try adding your favourite essential oils when adding your honey. Peppermint is nice and also cooling when the weather is hot although I used vanilla myself purely because I just love honey and vanilla together. Extreme weather conditions such as the heat of the sun and biting cold winds leave our lips susceptible to drying out and flaking. Use a soft flannel over your lips to remove any flaking skin and apply your lip balm for fast healing. Pop it on before you go to bed, keep it in your purse or handbag and apply regularly and your lips will remain happy, healthy, flake free and above all very kissable.

This is such an easy way to make your own organic lip balm, have you ever made your own? Do you perhaps have your own favourite recipe? Why not share it, it would be great to hear from you.
