Uses for Lemon and Honey

honey and lemon

Yummy Lemon and Honey form an incredible tasty mixture.

Discover the Health Benefits of Honey and the Health Benefits of Lemons which will help relieve you of many health problems.

Lemons are rich in vitamin C and are actually used in many over the counter medicines.

But why buy those when we can enjoy them fresh.

Most of us are aware of the age old remedy of lemon and honey as a hot comforting drink when we have those irritating coughs and colds but not many of us are aware of the many other uses for honey and the health benefits of lemons.

The Romans were incredible when it came to exploring and using what nature provides us with and there is much documentation of their uses for both honey and lemon for health and medical reasons. They used this wonderful combination for curing all types of poisons.

They may not have been aware of just how this combination worked, this was obviously experimented with by their ancient medicine men who through trial and error discovered the health benefits of honey and health benefits of lemons and their uses for curing their ailments.

We now know (including modern medicine men) that honey and lemon benefits as a hot drink will soothe the membranes in the throat when it is sore or you have those irritating tickly coughs.

The benefits of honey work their magic here by calming the tickle and irritation and helping the whole body relax and induce sleep.

Amazingly most over the counter and prescription medicines also contain lemon and honey but usually in a powdered form or liquid form along with unnatural added ingredients.

Its funny isn't it....even the big boys involved in artificial medicines know the benefits of lemon and honey but also know there is not enough money to be made for them using natures gifts!

Why use these when all you need is a really good raw or organic honey and some really fresh lemons.

The health benefits of honey include its natural antibiotics and ability to kill off most infections including bad bacteria without affecting the “good bacteria” we need to keep our systems healthy and in good working order.

This is just one of the many uses for honey including the benefits of eating honey.

The health benefits of lemons include its high content of vitamin C which helps to ward off colds and also includes its ability to keep our bones and teeth healthy because lemons contain Calcium, Potassium, Phosphorus, and Magnesium also.

These ingredients also prevent bacteria forming which can include the cause of tonsillitis and urine infections.

Lemons and honey will boost your immune system.

They are helpful flushing out toxins and will stimulate your liver all very helpful in keeping our bodies optimized.

The lemon is low in calories and when combined with the benefits of honey to sweeten food and drinks also serve as great natural alternatives to processed sugar and sugar substitutes which is bad…..really bad! Honey and lemon taste fantastic in desserts and cakes.....mouth watering.

The Best Way to Use Honey and Lemon

A really good honey should always be used; try to buy the best you can none of those rubbish fakes often looking pretty on store shelves and the freshest lemons you can buy.

How will you know the best lemons to buy?

Here is a great tip to help you decide. At the end of a lemon is a little star point, this is otherwise known as a calyx.

The star can have few or many points………..and the more points it has the better, no fewer than four is best.

The lemons should also be unwaxed. To enjoy the full benefits of lemons along with the health benefits of honey we must be careful how they are prepared.

Take one very clean saucepan with a litre of fresh water.

Pop a large lemon or two if they’re only small into the water and simmer together for at least 10 minutes.

Once the water has cooled, squeeze the juice from the lemon into the mixture and add three large spoonfuls of honey.

Never add honey to very hot water as you will destroy its nutrients and that will never do!

Use this as a first thing in the morning drink, a refreshing drink throughout a hot day which is especially nice with ice and warm it gently for best effects on that sore throat and cough.

This use of lemon and honey is so much nicer than the powdered forms on sale.

The benefits of honey together with the health benefits of lemons will calm your anxieties, help you to reduce weight as part of a calorie controlled healthy eating plan, include it in the honey diet and altogether just help to make you feel a whole lot better.

Because lemons are so rich in vitamin C in helps to protect against free radicals which in turn protects health body cells from becoming cancerous.

Particularly useful if you are a smoker (although we all know smoking is not good for our health).

The benefits of lemons along with your honey will also stimulate calcium which helps to keep our bones and teeth healthy.

There are many other uses of lemons which is such a versatile little fruit.

The Ancient Greeks used lemons to preserve their food and as a disenfectant along with the benefits of the lemon to help treat many ailments.

I like to use lemons in my cooking especially when I need to store some sliced apples.

Pop some lemon juice in the water and it stops the apples going brown until you need to use them.

The Ancient Romans even used the lemon for keeping moths at bay in their stored clothing before they discovered the benefits of lemons in cooking and for making drinks.

Another way of using lemons is to help whiten your laundry, just soak your clothes for a while in lemon water but don't forget to rinse afterwards!

If you have some special way of using your lemon and honey please write to me as I and my readers would love to read your stories. I'll publish them in my Honey Magazine.
