Honey Benefits

Honey Benefits

Honey benefits, which I have to say are not a modern day discovery are truly amazing particularly when you realize it is not a man made product!

Their Benefits ~
Are Brilliant

Honey has been known throughout history to benefit man, woman, child and animal in a variety of ways.

Great to eat, to cook with, and with a little imagination you could surprise yourself with exciting and tasty "experiments" in your own kitchen!

Try to experiment with it just as the ancients did all those years ago. The ancient Egyptians enjoyed honey benefits in their cooking and have the acknowledgement of being the first to produce a cheesecake.

These were not too different to the cheesecakes we bake today; the only real exception was they used flour made from dried ground dates.

However, they literally soaked them in honey and the cheesecake sucked it up to produce a mouthwatering delicacy. This has my mouth watering as I imagine having a slice or two myself.

It was known as the most valued ingredient in the kitchen and not just in Greece. The Romans loved to use this delicacy to cook things we wouldn’t dream of eating today but it did help mask the unpleasantness of some of their "Delicacies"

However, they also ate ingredients with their honey much as we still do. They had an abundance of fresh fruits and had a strong liking for melon soaked with honey which they called "Breakfast of the Gods".

Honey Health Benefits
for Children

Although understandable, because we are advised not to give babies honey these days, the ancient writings called "Papyrus Elders" actually recommended honey as an infant food!

Honey was even used as a means of providing relief for teething problems by the Romans who would mix it together with butter and rub it on baby’s gums.

The health benefits of honey as we know them today are not too different; the Benefits of Eating Honey were recognized then as much as they are now.

An interesting Hungarian doctor, who after having emigrated to America after WW1, was said to have gotten a real "bee in his bonnet" concerning the over consumption of table sugar which was hugely popular in those days.

He was quite outspoken with his comments concerning children who ate sugar and products produced from it commenting loudly that these children were ill, undernourished and pasty looking.

Why he argued, should children not enjoy Honey Nutrition, this he said provided as much nutrition as the child benefited from receiving from their own mother’s breast milk.

Certainly looking at the obesity levels globally nobody can argue with this concept and his ideas!

So strongly did he feel about his passion for honey he pointed out to the few who would listen, that children who were fed honey in place of sugar were full of energy, slept better, were less irritable and didn’t suffer with health ailments like their sugar loving friends.

I happen to be in total agreement with him; I have witnessed many a "sugar rush" in children and sadly watched the "sugar drop" effects. This just doesn’t happen when honey in place of sugar is consumed.

Honey Benefits ~ With Herbs

What an incredible substance honey is, it can be mixed with wonderful healing herbs which are an added bonus when it comes to consuming healthy foods.

A really good source of pure and natural honey is an antioxidant power boost on its own which helps dramatically in slowing down the aging process without actually slowing us down.

One property of honey that is extremely useful is its anti-inflammatory property. The herb Turmeric has this honor also.

By combining the two together honey benefits are increased in helping to ward off the risk of certain cancers.

Popular herbs used with honey benefits are ginger as particularly as an expectorant for bad congestion on the chest. This is said to ease even the toughest of phlegm from those with bad chesty coughs.

Cinnamon, Basil, Fennel and Peppermint can all enhance your honey benefits in aiding digestion and colic. All of these can be infused to make a great herbal tea to which you would add honey.

Sage and honey tea is just perfect for helping to relieve menopausal symptoms. Now come on ladies, give this honey benefit a try and make yourself feel a whole lot better. Why suffer when you really don’t have to.

I cannot imagine not having a jar of fresh raw honey or indeed a freshly cut piece of honeycomb which I am lucky to receive once in a while from my own beekeeping friends.

I know all the honey benefits having experienced them both for myself and my family over the course of many years. Recommended dosage to receive the most of your honey benefits whilst eating it is at least two teaspoons each day.
