Natures Finest Ingredient for Coughs and Colds
Great website you have :) I thought you and your readers might like to share these honey recipes for coughs and sore throats.
Who needs the local drugstore when nature provides us with so much more!
Homemade Honey Cough Syrup1 tablespoon licorice root
1 tablespoon marshmallow root
1 tablespoon plantain leaf
1 teaspoon thyme leaf
1 pint water
4 tablespoons honey
4 ounces glycerin
1/8 teaspoon anise essential oil (optional)
Prepare a triple-strength tea by simmering the herbs in water for 10 minutes, then steeping for 20 minutes.
Strain the tea, then stir in honey and glycerin while the tea is still warm. Add optional essential oil.
Take 1 tablespoon at a time. Stored in a cool place, this syrup will keep for 2 weeks. In the refrigerator, it will keep for several
months.
This recipe is suitable for children, but not for infants, who should not have honey.
Cough RemedyA sure-fire cure for one of those tickling, dry coughs:
Mix lemon juice, honey and - important! - ground ginger.
Add a little hot water to dissolve. Equal amounts of lemon and honey, but the ginger is more or less up to you. The less water, though, the better.
Sore Throat Syrup1/2 onion, chopped into small dish add 1-2 tbsps. honey
Cover at room temperature and let set until juice forms in bowl.
Take juice by tsp. for raw or sore throat as needed. A new batch can be made when you have used all the syrup up, although one batch usually does the trick.

Great Tip!
Thanks! I'm always looking for new ideas for sore throats. I use a propolis spray that so far does the trick. I've done the honey lemon thing in the past but didn't know about the ground ginger. I'll definitely try it in the future.
All the best Jennifer

Ginger tea and lemon with a spoonful of honey is great too and of course who could forget Propolis, natures very own antibiotic.
Warm Regards
