There are some pretty amazing beauty benefits of honey
which include honey for skin in most beauty products.

Honey beauty is available in most of those pretty pots and tubes most of us women like to try when looking for miracle creams to rid ourselves of skin infections and wrinkles.

Honey for acne is also just one of those incredible uses for honey.

The beauty benefits of honey have been documented over thousands of years although why they first experimented with the likes of crocodile dung and laying the lung of a camel over their faces whilst they slept in the hope of a beautiful complexion amongst other things is beyond belief in my eyes!

Thank goodness honey beauty benefits were discovered and remain popular today; I know where my preferences lie.

I have proved on my own child that honey with Propolis heals excema which appears frequently as one of those awful childhood rashes. You may like to read how I did this on my health benefits of honey page.

But excema can flare up at any time in our lives particularly as there are so many chemical irritants around today. If you suffer with this annoying problem try the beauty benefits of honey and before you know it you will be enjoying beautiful skin and no more itching which can drive you mad.

What are the Beauty Benefits of Honey?

The beauty benefits of honey and why they work are due to the antibacterial, high potassium, antioxidant and antiseptic properties which honey contains and have a similar effect to that of hydrogen peroxide, so honey on skin enables your pores to shrink without drying out the skin.

When you use honey on skin it will retain the moisture needed for fresh healthy skin plus replace the moisture if needed, it is one of the very best dry skin remedies you could possibly use.

Honey reduces the inflammation so often seen with skin fungal infections; it will literally eat away at the infection and destroy it. And can even be used to reduce the inflammation caused by sunburn, heal the herpes virus responsible for cold sores and yet another of those childhood skin rashes called impetigo.

The beauty benefits of honey include removing dry and dead skin cells due to its keratolytic properties, it simply wipes them away. It is suitable for all skin types because there is nothing in it to irritate the skin; it is just a great healer.

Gosh, honey for skin is wonderful it’s no wonder we can improve and maintain our beauty with the beauty benefits of honey.

As well as being a powerful cleanser, honey on skin heals cuts, athlete’s foot, eye conjunctivitis which helps you to keep your eyes healthy and beautiful. A honey and cinnamon facemask for example is one of the most effective anti-aging substances and anti aging foods.

It will reduce the appearance of scar tissue over time particularly with burns and scalds, as well as tighten, smooth and beautify the skin.

How to Uses Your Beauty Benefits of Honey

It is always very important to make sure the honey you use on your skin is pure honey. Many people are not aware that there are many irresponsible honey manufactures who try to pass their goods off as being authentic.

They will blend honey with other products such as corn syrup; this kind of honey is definitely not good for your skin. Honey beauty will only work with the very best ingredients so please look at the information written on the labels.

Try to buy Organic Honey, this has undergone stringent testing or your local beekeeper can provide you with exceptional Raw Honey from your area. And we really must not forget the amazing Manuka Honey.

The beauty benefits of honey for good skin health is often mixed and blended with natural ingredients such as oatmeal, turmeric, yoghurt, pear, egg, avocado, cinnamon and other natural substances like most types of fruit to make wonderful face masks.

Interestingly most of these natural skincare ingredients are due to the plant pollination efforts of our friendly honey bees. They work tirelessly to produce the honey we need for beauty and help most other natural plants grow. You too can grow these in your own honeybee gardens which can be so much fun and you will be growing your own honey beauty at the same time.

What to Look for When Buying Honey for Skin

Some cosmetic companies make a fortune out of women who buy their products, the problem is that the effectiveness of these natural ingredients are actually diminished once they are combined with stabilizers, chemical preservatives and the like.

Honey on skin is only effective when blended without poisonous chemicals. But you shouldn’t worry about this too much as there are some beautiful cosmetics which are well worth buying and some great cosmetic companies.

It just always pays to check labels carefully and look for all natural ingredients. These will ensure you achieve the beauty benefits of honey. I wouldn’t mind betting that beeswax is also mentioned on these labels. The beauty benefits of honey in those creams and lotions will be mixed with the beeswax to turn it into a creamy substance.

As An Antibacterial Honey Face Mask
the Beauty Benefits of Honey
are Second to None

This basic recipe for a honey and egg face mask is great for our skin and you can substitute the egg for mashed avocado or pear and even cucumber in this recipe to vary the mask.

  • You will need 1 tablespoon of natural, pure honey

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

  • 1 yolk of the egg

  • And one avocado, pear or small cucumber

This mask will clean your face and gently reduce swelling as well as any inflammation, it is perfect for the pimply time of the month, and your skin will feel supple, healthy and just beautiful after this treatment.

Separate the white of the egg from the yolk and add the yolk to the oil and honey mixture. The egg gives it a creamy texture and egg yolk will remove any greasy shine from the skin, leaving it clean with a matt finish which is not dry.

Mix together by adding the honey to the olive oil, this oil is nourishing and will rinse away from the skin cleanly unlike other heavy petroleum based oils which are used in cosmetics. It also cleanses and naturally moisturizes the skin; leaving it clean, healthy and glowing.

Gently wash and pat your face dry. Use quite warm but not too hot water and a clean facecloth to open the pores.

Smooth on the face mask and relax for 20 to 30 minutes with some cucumber pieces placed over your eyes.

Cucumber is very soothing to skin and eyes, it has a cooling effect and also reduces puffiness which makes it a great combination when used in tandem with the beauty benefits of honey. Cucumber has exactly the same pH value as the skin, and is great for the eyes.

If your skin is very oily, leave out the olive oil and if the skin is very dry add a few drops of Vitamin E oil. Then sit back and count up how much money you just saved on a perfect and completely natural skin cleansing, toning and moisturizing treatment.

You could substitute oatmeal and cinnamon, for another variety of this face mask. This is all part of the fun of learning to make your own completely natural homemade beauty product.

The beauty benefits of honey will ensure your skin looks amazing always. There are many references made to Cleopatra’s beauty regime using honey with donkey milk but I personally will pass on that one.

Have you ever smelt milk when it has dried on your skin? Stick with honey for skin and milk for tea!

Although should you wish to try this honey beauty treatment there is scientific evidence as to why it would work.

Milk will smooth and soften the skin whilst the honey will nourish, rehydrate and moisturize the skin. I think this would make for a pretty lavish and expensive bath time treat and if you showered off with fresh water after you wouldn’t be left with that smell!

Many spa treatments also include the beauty benefits of honey; it is now possible to book in for a spa where you will be immersed into a warm bath of rose water and honey.

This makes for a popular body wrap too, your skin will feel fantastic after one of these. It would also be really easy for you to make at home.

Cleopatra is said to have used the beauty benefits of honey for her famous eye make-up. It is claimed she mixed ochre, lapis lazuli and malachite with honey to make a paste with which she painted her eyes.

I have written another page you may be interested to read about the beauty benefits of honey and other famous beauties throughout history and a page with information about homemade beauty products. Why not send in some of your own beauty benefits of honey tips, we would all love to share them.
