Am I Sad? or Am I Depressed?

Am I Depressed

Am I depressed? Depression hurts doesn't it? If you feel extremely depressed you really must see your medical advisor as soon as you possibly can. Being clinically depressed is very different to feeling sad.

Living with a depressed person is not an easy thing to do, those feelings your loved ones are experiencing are difficult to deal with and you too often feel the effects that depression hurts.

Some times thinking you are depressed might just be feelings of sadness and the two can become somewhat confused. Feeling sad is something we all experience at some point simply because life has a habit of throwing unexpected problems and sad news our way.

Anyone who is deeply depressed or worse still, depressed and suicidal needs urgent medical intervention.

If you are just feeling a bit down in the dumps and generally low in spirits it is easy to think to yourself "Am I Depressed" having these thoughts and feelings are often a symptom of simply not nourishing your body properly.

Even children bless them, suffer with feelings of depression which is such a shame because most of the time they are unable to describe their feelings to adults and quite often are seen as naughty toddlers throwing temper tantrums or a moody depressed teenager.

They too are going through all kinds of emotions which can in turn lead to awful feelings of depression, is it any wonder that depression hurts. Living with a depressed person is really hard.

Am I Just Sad or Am I depressed?

If you suffer from most of these listed depression symptoms then the answer is more than likely to be yes. You understand depression hurts but for most people they are just general symptoms which can be dealt with at home with natural remedies for depression.

  • You want to cry and do often
  • You find it hard to concentrate
  • You feel irritable
  • You have a sense of hopelessness
  • You have lost interest in life
  • You find it difficult to make decisions
  • You feel guilty about something
  • You feel tired and listless
You suffer with loss of libido
  • You have mood swings but you don’t know why
  • Life is just frustrating!

If These Conditions are Familiar to You,
then You Know Depression Hurts

Your life may be comfortable which makes you wonder why am I depressed? Then that can cause you to feel guilty. You question yourself then and think but why am I depressed, I have everything I want don’t I?

More often or not there is something awful going on in your life, something traumatic like losing a loved one or losing your job, money worries and concerns.

Even having a fall out with a friend, an argument that cannot for now be resolved, a bullying boss or work mate, the list is endless but they can all give you those feelings and you begin to wonder "Am I Depressed"

Depressed Child or Children

Children’s depression symptoms feel the same to them, depression hurts no matter how old you are, and often they throw those little hissy fits because they are not getting their own way. Unfortunately, do not yet have the vocabulary skills to be able to sit down quietly with you and explain just how they’re feeling.

Most parents are under some form of stress themselves and so like one big un-happy circle of depression everyone involved feels depressed, sad and unhappy.

Those little hissy fits can often be seen in the shopping aisles and how embarrassing are they! Its no wonder when that happens you shout to yourself (inside your head) I can’t cope with this, Am I depressed!

Lets sort the little one’s out first shall we……..if you don’t have any little ones you can skip this bit however if you are planning on them at some stage please read on.

Let’s take the scenario of a little one wanting something you know they can’t have because for what ever reason they just can’t have it! Here we go……hissy fit, lots of crying and tantrums and anxiety.

Children love role-play, they often understand this better than the spoken word so lets say for example they wanted something that you know would hurt or harm them, the trouble is they don’t know this so you need to show them.

Pretend this "thing" has hurt you, pretend to cry and even feign depression symptoms, but don’t overdo it, you don’t need to frighten them! Show them you are un-happy then quickly dive into something else and laugh and smile uncontrollably even if you feel you look silly.

Children love this and more often than not they will forget what it was they wanted and their depression symptoms will vanish very quickly, you’ll all be happy and thoughts such as Am I Depressed will melt away.

Depressed Teenager ~ Teenagers too
Often ask Am I Depressed

And yes they too are at times. Their bodies are changing, their hormones are running wild, and a lot of the time they seem out of control and let’s face it they do an awful lot of crying! Even boys, which is nothing to be ashamed of.

Because we are all human and all share human emotions, crying is a way of letting go of those depressive feelings, sometimes it is the best cure there is for short term depression symptoms.

The girls quite often think to themselves why am I depressed, I am so fed up feeling depressed! Girls, now I know what I’m talking about here as I have had five daughters of my own.

There is very little I have not experienced about teenage daughters and their emotions, I work with teenagers too so there’s not much you can tell me that I don’t already know! Including how depression hurts!

However, and this goes for boys and girls, if somebody is bullying or abusing you of course you are feeling depressed and you MUST speak to an adult you trust. DO NOT ever keep these things a secret.

There will always be somebody to talk to whether it’s a parent, an aunty, uncle, cousin, teacher, a friends parent, so long as it is someone you know you can fully trust you must speak up so you can be helped and no longer live with these awful depressive symptoms and please, do it NOW. "Ask them AmI Depressed?"

At times you are feeling bogged down with school work, you have exams looming or homework and course work to meet deadlines for. You want that new top or those crazy new trainers that everybody else has but mum or dad has said NO.

All your friends have boyfriends and you don’t (that won’t last forever I can promise you that honey). You have a spot, a pimple, acne or a scar, you feel overweight, mum and dad are arguing, your brother or your sister are better than you and so on!

So you shout to yourself and anyone who’ll listen, I Feel Depressed. Trouble is so do they because when there is one un-happy soul around everyone suffers because depression hurts everyone around.

Mum and Dads How Often Have You Asked
Yourself Am I Depressed?

It is just as difficult for us adults to cope with the trials and tribulations that life throws at us; we are more often under pressure from work and bringing up the family.

Bereavement is something we find ourselves having to cope with more often and life sucks in general a lot of the time.

We always take things out on those closest to us; we don’t mean to, that is just the way life is! We feel depressed and without meaning to, we pass on those depression symptoms to others. Living with a depressed person is difficult for everyone.

There are many forms of depression and the ones I am helping you deal with are feelings of anxiety, sadness and feeling low in general, not those of clinical depression.

If you feel Clinically Depressed this must be diagnosed by your own doctor who is medically trained to help you.
